LIPTON FAQ
Frequently asked questions about LIPTON tea:
Can tea help with weight control?
Tea, when served without milk or sugar, contains virtually no kilojoules. This makes it an ideal choice for a healthy weight control plan especially when substituting for sweetened beverages. The possibility that green tea catechins (a type of antioxidant) help with weight loss has been a recent topic in the media. Research in this area is emerging but it is too early to confirm that green tea catechins can help in weight control.
Does LIPTON tea really grow its own tea?
LIPTON tea uses only the top leaves of the tea plant. To get these high quality leaves we grow our own. We have tea estates in India, Kenya and Tanzania. We also source tea from as many as 35 countries to ensure we have the best of the best to satisfy our tea experts.
How much caffeine does a cup of tea contain?
A standard cup of tea contains between 10-50mg caffeine, which is less than half the amount in a typical cup of instant coffee (containing around 60-80mg). Reference: FSANZ. See the food stadards web site. Foodstandards.gov.au/whatsin food/caffeine.
What are flavonoids and what health benefits are associated with tea flavonoids?
There are many different types of flavonoids in foods like fruit, vegetables, tea and wine. All teas - black, green, oolong are naturally rich in flavonoids. A heart healthy diet typically contains flavonoid rich foods. Studies have shown that tea, the amount you enjoy in 3 cups, can help improve blood vessel function.
