How to clean the interior of your top loading washing machine

If you need to clean the interior of your washing machine try the following technique. Please note this information is for top loading washing machines.

Suggested method

We suggest that the machine be filled with very hot water (high level), add 1 to 2 scoops of Omo Front Loader or Persil Front Loader laundry detergent depending on the size of your machine and the water hardness in your area. Close the lid and set the machine onto the longest wash. Before the solution begins to drain away, stop the machine and leave solution to soak in machine overnight. Next morning, set the machine at the beginning of a regular wash cycle and let it go through the complete cycle. If the machine is very dirty it may be necessary to repeat this procedure after a week or two.

Ways to prevent the interior of a machine machine becoming dirty

There are a few things you can try to prevent the interior of your washing machine becoming dirty. It is necessary, particularly in hard and/or discoloured water areas, to use the correct amount of detergent product as directed on pack. If you use cold water or fabric softener, we recommend that a warm or hot wash be used at regular intervals. This helps to keep the machine interior clean. (Warm or hot water used in every 5th wash should be sufficient.)
